Counselling for Individuals
Talking confidentially to an experienced counsellor in a safe, non-judgemental environment can really help you find resolution to difficult issues in your life. Counselling can help you feel supported as you explore difficult situations, identify solutions, and support you as you cope with change.
Just a few of the areas I am experienced in helping clients with include:
anxiety
addictions
low self-esteem
stress management
depression
separation and divorce
bereavement and loss
obsessive compulsive disorder
relationship issues
work issues
Is counselling right for me?
The initial 1hr appointment can often help clarify what is happening for you. If after one session you don't feel it's right, at least you've explored a new possibility. However, many feel it beneficial to undertake a course of counselling sessions.
What happens in a session?
A typical session lasts an hour. To start with, we may discuss what you wish to gain or achieve, and you may want to give a time span for this, such as 6 or 12 sessions. Equally it is just as valid to come for ongoing sessions for deeper issues which you want to explore at your own pace. We could use CBT methods to assess progress, however I will be client-led on how you wish to measure any assessment of benefit. It is just as valid for you to place emphasis on how it feels to 'be' rather than 'do'.
are my sessions confidential?
Yes, absolutely. Counselling is strictly private and anything that is discussed is confidential between you and your counsellor. There are certain rare legal exceptions which will be clarified at our first session.
